Delegates on Tuesday advised the Federal Government to shut Nigeria’s borders with Cameroon, Niger and Chad.
The advice followed Monday morning bomb blast at Nyanya Terminus on the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory.
At least, 75 people have been confirmed dead while 124 sustained various degrees of injury in the bomb blast.
Most of the women delegates dressed in black attire while most men were in black stripes and caps.Speaking, vice-chairman of the conference, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, said, “Definitely, it is known in the city of Jerusalem and Mecca that all is not well with Nigeria.”On his part, an elder statesman, Dr. Kunle Olajide, said, “I think we are being invaded. We must advise politicians to take politics out of this entirely. There are external sponsors to this cannibalism we are witnessing.”
The Convener of Save Nigeria Group and Serving Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, lamented that security agencies had not been able to curtail the activities of the terrorists in the North-East.
He suggested a stand down of the conference to send a strong message to the government on the need to show more purposeful will to overcome the threat.
Bakare said, “We may have to let them know we are serious. Everyday, we have been sitting here, we have been observing a minute silent. Sending strong message to the government and the security agencies does not seem to be working. A drastic situation may require a drastic action. Let us take a stand that this conference is about Nigeria and Nigerians and a death of one is the death of all.”
