Governor
Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State has explained why governors from the
opposition party, the APC were not part of the meeting between President
Goodluck Jonathan, the service chiefs and heads of security agencies and some
governors on Thursday.
President
Jonathan had on Thursday convened the meeting to review the worsening security
situation in the country, following the recent bomb attack on a bus park in
Nyanya, Abuja and the abduction of hundred students from a girls secondary
school in Borno state by Boko Haram.
On
why APC governors were not part of the meeting, Akpabio claimed that the
meeting was at the instance of PDP governors and APC governors were not
invited.
He added that the meeting was convened by Jonathan in order for PDP governors
to air their views on the ongoing activities in some parts of the country,
saying that the next meeting, which is schedule for Wednesday would have the
APC governors in attendance.
Akpabio,
however could not give any explanation for the presence of the governor
Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State (LP) and his Anambra State counterpart, Willlie
Obiano who belong to All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.
