The Custodian April 12, 2014
A
businesswoman, Oyemowo Gabriel, 39, on Friday begged a Grade 1 Area Court in
Aso Pada, Nasarawa State, to beg her husband to attend a `peace’ meeting.
The
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Oyemowo on March 24, prayed the court
to order her husband, Adenu, 45, to divorce her.
At
the resumed hearing on Friday she made a `u-turn’, and prayed for time to
enable her get more members of her husband’s family to attend the “settlement’’
meeting.
“My Lord I need more time to get his family members to attend the meeting.
“On
the day we fixed to meet for settlement, only my husband’s uncle appeared. I
want my husband to be around too.
“I
need his presence because I am not married to his uncle,” she said.
The
Judge, Mr Albert Maga, granted her request and adjourned the case till May 2,
for report of settlement.
NAN
recalls that Oyemowo alleged that on May 13, 2013 her husband drove her from
the one-bedroom apartment she was living with him and their three children.
“Whenever he demands for sex and I refuse him on account of the children being
in the room and he will beat me up.
“Since
he threw me out on May 13 he has taken custody of the children and refused me
access to them.
“I
am still bearing Mrs Gabriel; if he is not interested in me again, he should
tell me and let me know my stand now.
“I
also want the court to help me. I need my children, I want to live with my
children,” she said.
The
husband at the last hearing told the court that “I did not throw her out of my
house. She remains my wife.
“She
was the one who packed out of my house, rented a room somewhere and is leaving
alone.
“We
went to the village and resolved the matter. After we came back she refused to
move in with me,’’ he said. (NAN)
