2014 World Cup [Day 3]: Balotelli sinks England, Campbell inspires Costa Rica, Colombia beat Greece

Mario Balotelli’s header gave Italy a winning start at the 2014 World Cup, after Daniel Sturridge had levelled for the Three Lions.
Claudio Marchisio had given the Azzuris the lead earlier, before the Liverpool blasted in an equaliser. Balotelli climbed above Gary Cahill in the second half, to head past former team mate Joe Hart.

In the first game of the day, Colombia thrashed Greece 3-0, thanks to goals from Pablo Armero, Teofilo Gutierrez and James Rodriguez.

There was finally lift off for Africa in Brazil, as the Elephants of Ivory Coast came from a goal behind, to beat Japan 2-1, with Didier Drogba coming on in the second half to inspire his side.
Joel Campbell was the thorn in the flesh of a Suarez-less Uruguay, as the Arsenal youngster scored one and provided an assist for one more, to see Costa Rica shock the South Americans 3-1.
